Alternating Current (AC)
Summary
Alternating current (AC) is a type of electrical current, in which the direction of the flow of electrons switches back and forth at regular intervals or cycles. It was championed by Nikola Tesla and George Westinghouse. Its ability to be easily transformed to high voltages allowed it to be transmitted efficiently over long distances, making it superior to Direct Current (DC) for large-scale power distribution. This victory in the "War of the Currents" laid the groundwork for the modern electrical grid.
"The present is theirs; the future, for which I have really worked, is mine."
