Classical Architecture

Summary

Classical architecture is defined by its use of specific orders (Doric, Ionic, and Corinthian), mathematical proportions, and symmetrical designs. The principles established by the Greeks and Romans have been revived and reinterpreted throughout history, most notably during the Renaissance and Neoclassical periods, and continue to influence architectural design today.

"The mother art is architecture. Without an architecture of our own we have no soul of our own civilization."

— Frank Lloyd Wright
