Biography

Queen of England and Ireland from 1558 until her death, Elizabeth I was the last monarch of the House of Tudor. Her reign is known as the Elizabethan era, a period of cultural flourishing in English drama, poetry, and music. She established a Protestant church and successfully defended England against the Spanish Armada.
